President Obama vetoes import ban Apple iPhone 4, 3G and iPad 2

In news that is a relief for Apple, President Obama today vetoed the ban on the import of some Apple products granted by the United States International Trade Commission which found that some of Apple's products had infringed Samsung's patents. The ban could of stopped the import of Apple's iPhone 4 and 3G and also iPad 2 into the United States.

Apple has issues a statement about the decision:

"We applaud the Administration for standing up for innovation in this landmark case. Samsung was wrong to abuse the patent system in this way."

and so has Samsung:

"We are disappointed that the U.S. Trade Representative has decided to set aside the exclusion order issued by the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). The ITC’s decision correctly recognized that Samsung has been negotiating in good faith and that Apple remains unwilling to take a license."
