Red Mac Pro designed by Jony Ive sells for $977,000 at Sotheby's Charity Auction for Product (RED)

 

Designers Marc Newson and Jony Ive designed a number of one off items for the special charity auction held by Sotheby's to raise funds for Product (RED). Among them were a special Red Mac Pro that sold for $977,000 (well above the expected maximum of $60,000) and also a solid gold pair of earbuds that sold for $461,000 (they were only expected to raise $25,000)

All up the auction raised nearly $13 million to help Product (RED) fight aids
